Sera Monastery, Bylakuppe 16th January 2007 07:00PM: Tibetan Volunteers for Animals (TVA) activists made a presence during the Jamyang Gunchoe at Sera Monastery Bylakuppe. TVA activists screened a video on the plight of animals to more than 3000 monks who had gathered to see the video.
January 12, 2007 Hotel GRT Grand, Chennai India: The biennial animal welfare conference - Asia for Animals, was held in Chennai at Hotel GRT Grand, from the 10th of January until the 12th of January, 2007.
Kyabje Chatral Sangye Dorjee Rinpoche is one of the most accomplished Tibetan Buddhist Yogis alive today. He was born in June, 1913 in Kham, Tibet. He rescues millions of animals each year and has been a strict vegetarian for over forty five years. Now in his 90's, he is as active as ever, helping humans and animals alike with an unfathomably deep compassion. TVA had an exclusive interview with the Yogi himself on 29th May, 2005 in Nepal. Rinpoche passed away on Dec. 31, 2015 at the age of 102.
January 7, 2007 Hunsur Rabgyaling Tibetan Settlement, Mysore Disttrict, India: During His Holiness' visit at Hunsur Rabgyaling, TVA team headed by Monlam Lobsang spread its message of peace and non-violence. A small stall was put up near the main entrance of the Gyurmey Monastery. Magazines, CDs and books on health and vegetarianism were sold at reasonable prices. There was a separate table for publications that were for free distribution which included pamphlets, booklets, posters etc.
January 1, 2007 Amaravati, India: It was two weeks before the Kalachakra initiations to start. The holy place Amaravati (where many of the Tantric teachings originated, in Particular the Kalachakra) was yet to witness the crowd of more than 200,000 people from all around the world but for a group of young Tibetans, it was perhaps their busiest days. They are the ‘Tibetan Volunteers for Animals (TVA)’ and they call themselves "a voice for the voiceless".
