January 12, 2007 Hotel GRT Grand, Chennai India: The biennial animal welfare conference - Asia for Animals, was held in Chennai at Hotel GRT Grand, from the 10th of January until the 12th of January, 2007.
The Managing Directors of Tibetan Volunteers for Animals Mr. Monlam Lobsang and Mr. Rapsel Tsariwa attended the conference. Mr. Monlam made a presentation on the topic "Animals in Buddhism" during the Religion session of the conference. Delegates from 37 countries attended the conference including over 10 delegates from China.
The emphasis for Asia for Animals 2007 was upon consolidating experiences in the region with an eye to developing new strategies and facilitating change. In the main sessions, governmental and non-governmental representatives and experts discussed on the following topics:
