BodhGaya, India 28th January 2007
Over the years, the world has been a witness to inevitable calamities because of human need, greed and selfishness. Yet there are people who care for and look to a better and a peaceful world; where all the sentient beings can live together in harmony. Thousands of people attended the 18th Nyingma Monlam Chenmo held at Bodhgaya from 21st of Jan till the 28th January, especially to pray for WORLD PEACE.
People from all over the world (mostly from Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal and Ladakh) gathered to attend this auspicious event. TVA also made its presence during this event to promote and spread awareness about vegetarianism which is their key mission and objective.
With the help of a few volunteers, TVA organized a photo exhibition where the photos of innocent animals being slaughtered mercilessly for human consumption were displayed. This drew a lot of devotees with amazement.
TVA created serious awareness amongst devotees about the wrong practice of releasing fishes and birds which were actually captured illegally by the local people to make fast money. Once released, they would catch these same poor creatures and put them on sale again. TVA made an appeal not to indulge in this act, through Megaphones, by pasting appeal letters etc. It had considerable results and made a huge difference.
On the last day of the auspicious event, TVA made prayers and candle light offering nearby Maha stupa on behalf of all the kind donors for the coming New Year and for World Peace.
