On the annual anniversary occasion of the RTYC Mysore, the committee members of Tibetan Volunteers for Animals (TVA) and RTYC, members of the college students and sweater business were all assembled at Ganesh Prasad hall in Mysore. The TVA members presented a documentary slide show on Animal Sufferings and distributed magazines in English & Tibetan language, CDs and Stickers free of cost in the view of “Animal Rights & Vegetarian life-style”.
“We have been elaborately explaining the need to adopt vegetarianism and also provide necessary information to those who would like to try and live a little more in harmony with nature.” Says TVA activists Jamphel Rinzin and Rapsel Tsariwa. “We hope that many of the students and businessmen will benefit from this message and the activities performed by TVA is to promote a way of life, which causes no creature of land, sea, or air; any terror, torture, or death. We have no rights over animals. We have duties toward them.”
Tibetan Volunteers for Animals strongly feels it is bad enough to kill animals and that the so-called stunning prior to slaughter is nothing less than adding insult to the helpless creatures.
TVA recognizes the right of every living creature to live a life of unhindered freedom. This can be achieved in two stages:
(1) Gaining awareness of harm causing situations and
(2) Doing something to prevent those harms.
Students present during the talk realized that animals too have rights and that is a good enough reason to adopt vegetarianism. Consequently, over 15 students voluntarily signed a life long commitment not to eat meat. Among them one of the students, Tenzin Choyang from Hunsur volunteered to became a lifetime member of TVA. All their signatures were collected and will be presented to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 71st birthday on 6th July 2006 along with the signatures that will be collected till date.
TVA always pray that their mission be blessed, so as to touch the hearts of many and inspire them to join the ever-growing ranks of the new revolution, which is beginning to sway the Tibetan community. Millions of people all over the globe are leading a vegetarian lifestyle, based on compassion and reverence for all life.
At the end, Mr. Rapsel requested all the concerned Tibetan young people to support the Vegetarian Kalachakra Project of TVA in January 2006 at Amravati by contributing their helping hand and by not eating meat during this great auspicious event.
The overall response was really good and support from the RTYC and college students of Mysore was really appreciable. TVA expresses a sense of gratitude towards them for harmoniously co-operating and for their generous support.
Tibetan Volunteers for Animals' main aims and objectives are:
1) To foster the understanding that all sentient beings on Earth have an equal right of life from the smallest of ants to the largest of animals like the elephant or whale.
2) To educate Tibetan youth about Vegetarianism.
3) To encourage Tibetans to become Vegetarian.
4) To contribute to the protection of the environment and assist in the production of world peace.
