30th March 2007, Central School for Tibetans Chauntra

The members of Tibetan Volunteers for Animals visited CST Chauntra to spread awareness on vegetarianism to school children and staffs.

At around 4 pm videos on animal cruelty were screened. The pitiful situation of the voiceless beings and the senseless, selfish acts of the humans drew many sighs and overwhelmed glances amidst viewers. After the show, the members of TVA requested all the students to support the mission of TVA i.e. to spread awareness on vegetarianism across the globe.

About 55 students came forward with a promise to form a veg club within the school and to carry out the task of educating people on vegetarianism. Dorje wangchuk and Jigley wangmo of class VIII th voluntarily accepted to be the Chief of the club. Mr. Lobsang Yeshi (Tibetan teacher) promised to guide and advice the Veg Club; if and when necessary. Mr. Tashi Gyaltsen and Mr. Ngodup Tenpa (both teachers) also agreed to support the Veg Club and assist them in every situation.

In order to raise funds for the newly Veg Club, TVA donated 10 audio CDs and a sum of Rs. 750 to initiate their work.

Expressing deep gratitude to the faculties for making this trip a successful and a memorable one, TVA bid farewell to C.S.T Chauntra.

We thank the school headmaster who not only gave us the opportunity to interact with the students but also supported us in arranging the equipments for the video screening.
