Tuesday October 2, 2007 Bylakuppe, India: On the occasion of World Vegetarian Day, Tibetan Volunteers for Animals (TVA) organized a free Vegetarian lunch program for the people of Bylakuppe. Sera Jhe Geko (Disciplinary Head) Geshe Lobsang Chodhar  and TCV School Spiritual guide Geshe Lobsang Gyatso were the chief guests for the program.

TVA prepared and distributed more than 6000 Vegetarian momos. The main aims of the program were:

To create awareness about vegetarianism and World Vegetarian day.

To make Tibetans understand that momo need not be stuffed with meat. We wanted people to know that momo can be really delicious even without meat. And

To celebrate the world vegetarian day.

TVA also distributed pamphlets and posters to create awareness about vegetarianism. The program was well received by the local people and many ended up licking their fingers after enjoying their lunch.

This is the first time that the World Vegetarian Day was observed in the Tibetan Community.

TVA thank the Volunteers especially the members of the TCV School Veg Club without whom the program wouldn't have been possible.

Being Vegetarian isn't all about caring for animals. It's about living a life free from cruelty, hypocrisy and tyrany. Please choose Vegetarian. Do it for the animals, do it for the environment and do it for your own health.
